Somehow, I was glutened at Outback. I am pretty sure it was out server - she was quite the dumb ass. When they brought my dinner, I noticed that the pineapple had a glaze so I asked questions. (Most glazes are soy sauce based.) She came back and said it was gluten free, but that "if you gain a few pounds in the next 24 hours, you will know that it wasn't." A friend who was with me and is also gluten free jumped in and explained that it wasn't a diet to lose weight, but is a serious health concern, etc.
A little while later, we asked if any of their desserts were dairy free (friend is also dairy free) and the server said basically "Nothing is dairy free. Can I get you a piece of cheesecake?"
This just solidifies in my mind that I just have no business eating in restaurants. Sad but right now a reality.
Good thing I know how to cook because if I were someone who relied on restaurant food most of the time - and you know there are plenty of families that do - I would starve.
